Vigan in Ilocos Sur known as the best preserved planned Spanish colonial town in Asia has advanced to the next round of an international search for the new seven wonders of the world cities, organizers disclosed this week.

New7Wonders Cities said Vigan City is among the 21 finalists voted through the next round of the campaign.
Apart from Vigan, the other 20 official finalists are Bangkok, Barcelona, Beirut, Chicago, Doha, Durban, Havana, Istanbul, Kuala Lumpur, La Paz, London, Mendoza, Mexico City, Mumbai, Perth, Quito, Reykjavik, San Petersburg, Seoul and Shenzhen.
New7Wonders Foundation chairman Bernard Weber-founder said that the diversity of the other cities is "significant in terms of regional geography and urban culture."
Weber praised those involved in individual campaigns in the city, and praised the voters for their contribution to the success of the initiative of New7Wonders Cities.
The New7Wonders Foundation also began at 7 wonders of Nature initiative from 2007 to 2011 Another place of the Philippines, Puerto Princesa Underground River, was named to the list.
Filipinos and tourists who have experienced the beauty of Vigan may want to vote for it in the penultimate voting stage that will run until Oct. 7.
